Cabins & facilities
The Roost's cabins and facilities were designed to make life easy for hikers, bikers and outdoor lovers. Our cabins and facilities have pretty much everything you'll need for a relaxing few days away.
And, as a Visit Wales accredited Glamping Site, you can rest assured that we meet the highest standards. We are also accredited for their Cyclists and Walkers Welcome scheme.
The cabins
Our cosy self-catering cabins provide a warm, comfy and practical base for up to two adults and two children.
There are five cabins at the Roost all of which have:
- 4ft wide/small double bunk bed, spacious for one and cosy for two
- a table with stools
- heaters
- lighting and power/usb sockets
- base sheets and mattress protectors provided as standard; additional bedding is available as an extra.
Cabins Arosfa, Gwynfa and Noddfa are step free; there are a few steps to Bodlawen and Del Fryn.
Dog friendly glamping accommodation
The Roost is also a dog friendly glamping site. The site is gated and there's plenty of space for dogs to enjoy sniffing about. And, with the Taff Trail outside our gate, its easy to take them for a walk.
All cabins are dog friendly though there's more space for them and you in the 'original' cabins.
Ensuite Arosfa
In addition to the above, ensuite Arosfa has:
- a shower room and kitchenette
- a bike store unit with a three point locking system at the rear of the cabin (W 855mm × L 1900mm × H 1205mm)
- sleeps up to 2 adults and 1 child.
The 'original' cabins
Our four ‘original’ cabins (Bodlawen*, Del Fryn, Gwynfa and Noddfa) aren't ensuite but they are more spacious and also have:
- Del Fryn, Gwynfa and Noddfa have allocated, private kitchens
- Bodlawen does not have a kitchen; it has a kettle, crockery, cutlery etc and access to an outdoor sink area for drinking water, washing up etc
- all have allocated, private shower rooms a few steps away
- in-cabin storage porches for bikes, gear, muddy boots etc
- sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children
- a single camp bed.
Campervan spaces
We have space for 1 or 2 small campervans (max 5m due to restricted space/turning). There are electric hook-ups and a shower room will be allocated (this may be shared between guests from two vans). There's also outdoor seating and an outdoor sink area with drinking water, washing up liquid etc for cleaning up.
The kitchens
Guests staying in our original cabins (not Bodlawen) are allocated one of three inside-outside kitchens.
Kitchens 1 and 2 are in the facilities cabin and the dividing wall can be rolled up to make one big kitchen (allocated to Del Fryn and Gwynfa). Kitchen 3 sits just below. They are well kitted out so you'll be able to cook, eat and relax. The walls can be rolled up but they'll keep you nice and dry should it rain.
Each kitchen has:
- sink, washing up liquid, hand wash and tea towels
- fridge with ice box
- a two ring hob, microwave, toaster and kettle
- pots and pans
- cafetiere, crockery, cups, glasses and cutlery
- cleaning equipment
- refuse/recycling bins
- BBQ tools
- inside seating and outdoor seating.
The shower rooms
Guests staying in our original cabins are allocated one of four shower rooms that are situated in the main cabin. Our shower rooms have everything you'll need to refresh after a day adventuring.
They have:
- lovely hot showers with shampoo/body wash
- a wash basin with handwash and hand towels
- loo with loo roll (they flush with recycled rainwater)
- shaving point, mirror, heater, hooks and bench
- cleaning spray and cloth
- key code access.
Other facilities
We want your stay to be as relaxing as possible so we've put in place a few other things to make your stay easy. The gated site has:
- guest store and honesty shop - here you'll find spare bin bags, dog poop bags, games etc plus some basics/treats to buy
- key code access
- secure car parking (one space per cabin; if you need more get in touch)
- twin electric vehicle/EV charger
- a bike wash with brush and MucOff
- Turvec bike maintenance stand with tools
- an outdoor sink
- drying room and washing lines with pegs
- outdoor seating areas
- a pizza oven, BBQs and fire bowl (we can provide firewood)
- free WiFi throughout most of the site (it can be a bit weather dependent).
