Thank you for making the ideal place to stay for us mountain bikers! We couldn't have wanted/needed anything more. We can't wait to stay again soon, Donna and Ian

We ha an excellent stay at The Roost, using it as a base for mountain biking in the region, at Bike Park Wales, Afan Valley and Dirt Farm. It's... read more worth noting we were very lucky with the weather, which was hot and dry, so "glamping" was pretty ideal. The cabin we stayed in was very clean and comfortable, and had plenty of power sockets. The kitchen was well-equipped and we really liked eating on the decking outside. Although it's tucked away at one end of a residential area, The Roost feels pretty secluded, and the trees and landscaping are really pleasant. We appreciated the bike-washing facilities and workstand a great deal, and the owners were keen to make sure we had everything else we needed, including a fan to keep us comfortable in the hot weather. Great setting half way up on side of a valley, the sun hits the site in the morning and sets in the other side of the valley giving you... read more a beautiful view of the other side of the valley. Loads of really useful thoughtful touches, for example all cabins are the same size, so if you choose the non-ensuite cabins the extra space is utilised as hanging space for two bikes and a drying rack for your gear which is super useful. They have a dedicated bike cleaning area that includes bike stand, tools for maintenance, brushes, hose and a full bottle of muc-off spray. Toilets use rainwater, the toilet paper is made from recyclable paper (hopefully not recycled toilet paper), well stocked kitchen with everything you need including eco-friendly washing liquid. Kitchen and shower rooms are always private whether en-suite or not. The only drawback was the wifi didn't reach my cabin and would have a habit of dropping out when I was using it. Not a issue really though as I had full 4G coverage across the whole site. And of course, it's difficult to get much closer to BPW without actually staying onsite. Certainly coming back.

"I stayed here in a campervan. Staff were really communicative using the online tool, I could check myself in using the gate code, I had access to Power, Water and my own Shower/Toilet room. It was a great base for my two days in Merthyr." October 2023
"Lovely, warm couple with a wealth of local information and knowledge to help with your stay. Close to Bike Park Wales for mountain biking or the Beacons for walking etc. Wonderful idea of a modern camping style but in timber pods and with a real feel of getting back to nature.
I loved the communal kitchen idea being able to sit looking at the hills whilst having breakfast and when the weather permits, being able to do it alfresco with other guests.
They have harnessed the environmental aspects of having a business like this and have opted for rainwater harvesting in some areas of the venue which I love and gives them a much higher green-rating than any other accommodation that I have experienced. I love this place and would love to return with my young family." October 2019
