Home to roost

Excuse the pun but hard to resist just this once! Our exciting new venture, the Roost Merthyr Tydfil, opens later this summer. This small, friendly, family run cabin and campervan site in the Welsh Valleys is being designed specifically for people taking part in the many outdoor activities the South Wales Valleys and Brecon Beacons National Park have to offer.

Why so?

The Roost is the brainchild of local boys Kris and Darrel. They grew up in Troedyrhiw in the house that adjoins the Roost. As the land had been a bit unloved for a few years they had an epiphany about how to give it a new lease of life and the Roost is born. It’s a lush spot, at the top of the village and has spectacular views down across the valley.

We're really close to BikePark Wales, are about half way along the Taff Trail and are on the edge of the the Brecon Beacons National Park. It therefore made sense to tailor the site to the needs of mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, climbers etc though everyone is welcome.

Cabins and campervan spaces

The 'build' is well underway and, the cabins are in. When we open there will be four cabins and two campervan spaces with hook-ups. Each cabin has integral storage for bikes and equipment. We’ll also have a drying room and a bike wash, and we don’t mind a bit of mud.

Come and stay!

The Roost is designed to be cosy, as are the well-insulated cabins. We’re hoping guests will get to know their neighbours by chatting in the shared kitchen or while relaxing in one of the seating areas. Creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere is really important to us so we’ll be hosting social evenings, e.g. curry and bbq nights. Guests won’t have to go far after a tiring day to get some good food and maybe a beer or three in their bellies.

There's lots of info on the website and more pictures will be added soon. To stay up to date with progress, follow us on social media and sign up for our emails. Definitely no spam.
