New for 2026 – The Roost Merthyr Tydfil’s sauna space

We’re excited to introduce our brand-new sauna and outdoor recovery space at The Roost Merthyr Tydfil, opening in April 2026.

After a day exploring the trails around Merthyr Tydfil and the Brecon Beacons, what could be better than warming up, switching off, and giving your body time to recover. That’s exactly why we created this peaceful sauna space - tucked behind a private gate in a quiet corner of The Roost and thoughtfully designed with adventurers in mind.

First, heat up in the electric sauna, then, cool off under the cold-water shower. After that, relax under the trees before heading back in for another round. So, whether you’re here for biking, hiking, or simply escaping for a night or two, the sauna space offers the perfect end to a day well spent.

Private sauna in Merthyr Tydfil – open for bookings from April 2026

Our private sauna in Merthyr Tydfil will be available to book from April 2026. Guests staying at The Roost can book private one hour sauna sessions for up to six people.

Because the sauna is electric, we’ll ensure it’s perfectly heated and ready at the start of your session. And, to keep the experience peaceful and exclusive, the area is gated and available by pre-booking only.

If you're planning a walking, hiking or mountain biking trip, adding a sauna session is the perfect way to enhance your stay.

How to book a sauna session at The Roost

Booking your sauna session is simple.

When you book your stay at The Roost, you can add a private sauna session during checkout. Alternatively, if you’ve already booked your accommodation, contact us to add a sauna session to your stay.

Once we’ve added the session to your booking and received payment, we’ll send you a link to the sauna calendar. From there, you can choose your preferred private one-hour time slot.

Before your session, we’ll send you the gate code along with everything you need to know. That way, you can simply step inside and start to unwind.

The benefits of sauna sessions

Of course, a sauna session isn’t just about relaxation. It’s also a powerful way to support your wellbeing after a day of activity.

Regular sauna sessions can:

  • Improve circulation
  • Reduce stress levels
  • Support better sleep
  • Strengthen the immune system

In addition, the simple heat-and-cool cycle encourages the release of endorphins, soothes tired muscles, and promotes a deep sense of calm. You’ll leave feeling restored, reset, and ready for your next adventure.

What to expect from The Roost's outdoor sauna space

Our new outdoor sauna at The Roost Merthyr Tydfil has been carefully designed with recovery in mind.

Under the trees, you’ll find:

  • A beautifully crafted electric barrel sauna
  • A refreshing cold-water shower
  • Seating for you to cool off and relax between rounds

Because the space is partially covered, you can enjoy it whatever the Welsh weather decides to do. In the evening, the soft lighting creates a calm and cosy atmosphere and, in the morning, early birds can book a sunrise session and soak up the first light of the day.

Everything in the sauna space has been built by The Roost team, creating a natural and welcoming environment that blends perfectly with the surroundings.
