Well-equipped kitchens
Our inside-outside kitchens have all the mod-cons so you can cook, eat and relax. And, if you don't feel like cooking, the village has plenty of takeaways. The walls open up but they'll keep you nice and dry if it rains. Kitchens 1 and 2, assigned to Del Fryn and Gwynfa, are next to each other and the dividing wall rolls up to make a big kitchen ideal for groups. Kitchen 3, assigned to Noddfa, sits just below. Each kitchen has:
- sink, washing up liquid, hand wash and tea towels
- fridge with ice box, two-ring induction hob, microwave, toaster and kettle
- pots and pans etc, cafetiere, crockery, cups, glasses and cutlery
- cleaning equipment and refuse/recycling bins
- BBQ and BBQ tools
- inside and outdoor seating.
The shower rooms
Guests staying in Bodlawen, Del Fryn, Gwynfa and Noddfa are allocated one of four shower rooms located in the kitchen and shower block. The shower rooms are private and have everything you'll need to refresh after a busy day. Inside you'll find:
- lovely hot showers with body wash
- a wash basin with handwash and hand towels
- loo with loo roll (they flush with recycled rainwater)
- shaving point, mirror, heater, hooks and bench
- cleaning spray and cloth
- key code access.

Explore The Roost
Once through the gate, you’ll arrive in our spacious car park, complete with a twin EV charger. Just off the car park you’ll find all the essentials: a bike wash and repair stand with tools, the recycling area, drying room, guest store and honesty shop, plus a covered outdoor sink.
Tucked among the trees are our five cabins, along with the kitchen and shower block. Kitchen 3 sits slightly apart, down a few steps. All kitchens and shower rooms are private unless you’ve booked the entire site. For group stays, Kitchens 1 and 2 can be opened up to create a larger shared cooking and eating space, while Kitchen 3 works perfectly as a bar or serving area.
Outside, you’ll find plenty of seating and picnic tables around the kitchens. Whether you’re firing up the BBQ, making pizzas in the pizza oven, or relaxing around the fire pit, The Roost Merthyr Tydfil is designed for easy, post-activity relaxation.
"I stayed at The Roost for a small MTB trip with a friend, was a fabulous place to stay. Easy in and out, lovely venue, great facilities, and had a real good feel of both an accommodation and glamping. Amenities were all clean and well supplied, and there was a little honesty shop to stock up on any tidbits not packed. Tips for other travellers: Near a small pub and shop, like a 5-10min drive to Bike Park Wales and super close to the nearby national park (highly suggest spending some time just on the road, beautiful scenery)."
