Sauna Space usage guidelines and waiver

All users of The Roost's Sauna Space are required to agree to the following guidelines and waiver.

We’re so pleased you’ve chosen to unwind in our little sauna space. It’s been lovingly built by us for rest, recovery and a little post-adventure relaxation.

To keep things safe, relaxing and enjoyable for everyone, please read and agree to the following when booking your sauna session. It is your responsibility as the booker to make sure all users within your party are aware of the information in this waiver, to ensure they agree, and that they practice safe sauna use.

Our sauna space is designed as a calm, adult recovery space so children under 16 are not permitted in the sauna space at any time and guests aged 16–17 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Pets are not permitted inside the sauna or recovery space.

A note on safety

Saunas are wonderfully restorative - however, the high temperatures and rapid cooling isn’t suitable for everyone.

Please listen to your body at all times. Don’t spend too long in the sauna, just 3-15 minutes is enough and, if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, unwell or uncomfortable, leave the sauna immediately.

By using the sauna and recovery space, you acknowledge that you do so at your own risk. The Roost cannot accept responsibility for injury, illness, loss or damage arising from use of the sauna facilities.

Health considerations

Sauna use may not be appropriate if you:

  • Are pregnant
  • Have heart or cardiovascular conditions
  • Have high or low blood pressure
  • Have respiratory conditions
  • Have epilepsy
  • Are prone to fainting or dizziness
  • Are under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Have any medical condition affected by heat

If you have any health concerns at all, we strongly recommend seeking medical advice before booking a session.

Children and pets

Our sauna space is designed as a calm, adult recovery space:

  • Children under 16 are not permitted in the sauna space at any time
  • Guests aged 16–17 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
  • Pets are not permitted inside the sauna or recovery space.

Alcohol, smoking etc

For your safety, please do not use the sauna under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Heat and dehydration can increase risks significantly. Also, don’t smoke or use e-cigarettes, vapes within the sauna space.

Take care

The sauna space is an outdoor space, surfaces may be wet, and lighting may be low during evening sessions. Please wear suitable footwear outside the sauna (no footwear inside), take extra care on wet surfaces and be mindful of your surroundings.

Surfaces in the sauna can become very hot - please be mindful of what you touch and don’t touch the heater.

The sauna heater

The heater is electric and will be pre-set to warm up the sauna in time for the start of your session. The temperature is also pre-set, no adjusting required.

Keep the door closed, the heater will stop heating if the door is left open. And, at the end of your session, ensure the sauna door is closed. Don't touch the heater or the stones, it will get very hot.

Sauna etiquette

There are a few things we and other guests would appreciate:

  • Wear swimwear and sit on a towel to protect the sauna benches
  • No footwear in the sauna, leave it outside
  • Don’t wear jewellery, watches or glasses in the sauna – they will get hot!
  • Do not touch the heater or stones
  • Only pour water onto the stones using the ladle/bucket, do not pour oils or anything other than water on the stones and be mindful of steam
  • Don’t try to adjust any temperatures or timers; this is for Roost staff to do only.
